The sun will shine brightly on your holiday activities, and while the nights may cool down considerably, the daylight hours may have you considering a dip before the turkey feast begins! This guide to Thanksgiving in Scottsdale is filled with things to be thankful about and will also show you how all the best comforts begin and end in our vacation rentals in Scottsdale Arizona!

Scottsdale Thanksgiving Activities
We are definitely not judging anyone, but there is a certain type of person who finds it fun to start out their Scottsdale Thanksgiving holiday with a run! We feel that turkey day should just be all about the turkey, but we admire and applaud all those who love a healthy life and as such, we had to include the Phoenix Turkey Trot in our list of Thanksgiving activities. Held on Thanksgiving Day, there will be a 5K Run & Walk, a 10K Run (what dedication!), and a 1-mile Dash and Tot Trot for the little health nuts in your family! A costume contest helps make it even more fun as does the cool tee and medal participants will receive. If this sounds like the ideal way to start your Thanksgiving celebration, you can register here, or if you don’t want to do something organized, a hike through the Sonoran Desert can be a beautiful way to start your day as well.
Now, Let’s Eat!
After many years of cooking, cleaning, and listening to sweet Aunt Ethel complain about your dry turkey, this is the year you let someone else do all the cooking! Scottsdale is a foodie’s paradise, and many of its best restaurants will be serving their own versions of the traditional turkey dinner and your biggest problem may just be narrowing down your options to just one. Kitchen West, 7700 E McCormick Parkway, and Zuzu, 6850 E Main Street, are two of our local favorites for haute cuisine Thanksgiving dinners in Scottsdale. For those who may want to branch out a bit further, the Capital Grille at 2502 E Camelback Road in Phoenix offers a beautiful dinner and the chance to see or be seen as this unique restaurant is where the rich, beautiful, and powerful like to shine!
But What If You Like to Cook?
Whether you like to cook or are considering purchasing a ready-to-heat full meal from AJ’s, our local gourmet grocery store, our I Love Scottsdale fully equipped kitchens are ready to be put to work! Offering high-end materials that include stone countertops, premium fixtures, and name-brand appliances, the family atmosphere will make you feel right at home as you putter around their expanse. Breakfast bars are the perfect spot for your “sous chefs” to do the prep work for the side dishes, and because this is a family adventure, you may discover that it is easier for your kiddos to confide in you when you are working side by side, but not necessarily staring into each other’s faces! As mentioned earlier, AJ’s Fine Foods offers fully prepared meals that you just need to put in the oven, but they also provide the raw ingredients for those who want to practice their own recipes. There are a couple of locations in Scottsdale, one at 15031 N. Thompson Peak Parkway and the other can be found at 7141 E. Lincoln Drive. If you are partaking in their ready to heat meal, advance payment and reservations can be made online.
Black Friday Shopping
For many, the best part of Thanksgiving in Scottsdale is the Black Friday shopping that can sometimes begin at midnight! Lately, the world has turned more to the convenience of online shopping, preferring to stay comfy and cozy in their pajamas as they devour leftovers, (high-speed internet in our holiday hideaways make online shopping easy!) but on Friday, the stores are all going to be open and ready to take your credit cards. Downtown Scottsdale offers a variety of shops, boutiques, and galleries, so put on your comfortable shoes (this is the kind of hiking we can get into!) and prepare to shop! The Rolling Rack Boutique at 7084 E 5th Avenue has a huge selection of cute clothing and accessories that the special ladies in your life will adore, but if you want to go all out, we recommend a visit to Scottsdale Fashion Park. This is a mall that just keeps getting better, even as malls seem to be losing favor in the shopping world and the name-brand stores are destined to have some really great sales as well!
