As you begin planning your guys’ getaway to Scottsdale, judging by the fact that you are reading this, we at I Love Scottsdale are going to assume that you have already found the “man cave” from which all of your hijinks will begin and end! (One of ours, of course, but there will be more about that later!) So today, we thought we would take a few minutes and give you some ideas on how you can spend your minutes in the West’s Most Western Town, filling up your days with hiking adventures and sporting activities while filling the nighttime hour by hitting some of the best clubs in town! This guide to a 3 days guys’ trip to Scottsdale with the men who have become family will ensure that although you don’t often get the chance to hang out and chill with each other, this adventure will be one you will remember forever!
Day 1: Gentlemen, Choose Your Game!
Scottsdale and the entire Metropolitan Phoenix area is a huge sporting town. If you can think of it, chances are we A) have a professional team that plays it or B) offer the opportunity to play it yourself. Starting with golf, the courses of Arizona are world-class, and the best of the best, the TPC Scottsdale Course is home to a major PGA event, so if you are visiting around Superbowl time, be sure to buy your tickets today! Golf is a 4-season activity in the desert, just remember that you may want to ask for an early tee time during your summer escape to Scottsdale as afternoon temps can be brutal, and during July and August, monsoon storms can cut short a day on the links! Pickleball is a new and exciting sport and places like McDowell Mountain Ranch Community Center Park and Pool and Thompson Peak Park offering 10 and 6 courts respectively will allow you to begin your new Pickleball obsession! As evening falls, this first night of the week, depending on the season you arrive, you may choose to opt for a Professional sporting event as opposed to a club, and your opportunities are plentiful! The area is home to the Phoenix Suns NBA team, the Arizona Diamondbacks MLB team, and the Arizona Coyotes, all playing within a few miles drive of your I Love Scottsdale bachelor’s escape and if you are lucky, maybe they will be playing your team during your stay!
Day 2: Get Back to Nature
The desert is a strangely appealing place, appearing both arid and desolate, but also filled with life, and getting out to explore with a hike that doesn’t involve little dimpled white balls may be your favorite part of your Arizona adventures. The best hiking trails in Scottsdale take visitors up the rocky slopes of Camelback Mountain where the views go on forever, through “forests” of cacti and along fields of wildflowers in the spring months. Scottsdale’s McDowell Sonoran Preserve offers many opportunities for “strolls through the desert” including the 4.5-mile-long Gateway Loop Trail, offering only a 655 gain in elevation which hikers would appreciate if they started the day on Camelback Mountain! The preserve also offers a variety of mountain biking trails that range from beginner to advanced levels, ensuring you and your gang will find the trail that suits your strengths or weaknesses! South and North Diablo Trails at Brown’s Ranch will provide the adrenaline surge you seek, offering a chance to ride the boulders and lasting over 5 miles! If you still have the energy after a day of extreme sporting activities, make your way to the Rusty Spur Saloon, located at 7245 E Main Street, which offers live country music every day of the week, cold beers, and a bar food menu sprinkled with authentic Mexican favorites and a selection of burgers that will even make grown men like you and your compadres cry with joy!
Day 3: Time Flies When You’re Having Fun
All too soon the last day of your guys’ getaway is about to come to an end, but you still have 24 hours to fill with fun! Start your day with a hearty breakfast at the Breakfast Club, 4400 N Scottsdale Road, where the portions are large and the atmosphere is casual and laidback ensuring that no one feels out of place. Chances are your group of Scottsdale explorers left behind a few partners for this getaway so this last day may be the perfect day to get in a little shopping at some of the stores that make Old Town Scottsdale shine, including the Crazy Horse Gallery, 7232 E Main Street, where art pieces and jewelry provide authentic examples of the beauty of the Southwest. And finally, for your last day and night in Scottsdale, a visit to Maya Dayclub provides a sophisticated Las Vegas-like experience, open from 9 am until 2 am and providing daytime pool parties, bottle service, and a party you will wish never had to end!
